Diary Entry

04/11/14

  Dear diary,
I disagree about the use of steroid in athletes, because they abuse it. It's not fair, because there are athletes with a lot of training that don't use steroids. The steroids make athletes better, like the cyclist Lance Armstrong he wone many tour the france consecutively, but a few years ago it was discovered, he used steroids. I think that all athletes have to compete in a natural way. If I have the chance to win it all using steroids, I would prefer to not do it. I prefer to win something with my own merits and the other thing is that all of these subtances are dangerous. I heard that the steroids shrink your penis, and if younuse this subtance every day, It could be dangerouse. Watch the movies of Arnold Schwarzenegger and pay atention to his body, and comper it to how it is now. In conclusion I disagree with steroids and any subtance, to win things you have to make an effort.

Drinking

Many adolescents hide things and one of those things is alcohol. At that age it's very common they drink, for curiousity, they want to feel older, etc.

Why do they drink?

They are curious, they believe that it will make them feel good, they may look at alcohol as a way to reduce stress, they want to feel older. I think that an other reason why they drink is that they see their parents, old brothers, famous people drinking.

They don't know what they are doing , the alcohol damages the brain and they do things that they will regret.

However this is something that has happened in all the world for many years.

At the age of 15-16 the liver is not developed and the liver is damaged. To sell alcohol to under aged people is illegal so you will ask to your self, where do they take the alcohol from? Well, they take the alcohol from their own houses.

"According to a 2006 Australian study, people who drink are four times more likely than non-drinkers to suffer physical injuries such as falls. And binge drinkers are at an even greater risk of injury" (Steven Dowshen).

There are different types of drinks, and the most common among adolescents is the beer. It brings negative consequences, like overweight, high blood pressure, etc. Just one regular beer contains 150 calories, each adolescent drinks five or four beers a night.

Alcohol could bring problems to school "binge drinkers have a harder time in school and they're more likely to drop out" (Steven Dowshen) and disrupts sleep putterns, can make it harder to stay awake and concentrate during the day.

In conclusion this hase a solution and you have to get help as soon as possible, talk to someone close to you and go to a doctor.
